Sri Ann Johnston, of Long Beach , was charged with one count of kidnapping and deprivation of custody of children , according to a press release from the Office of the District Attorney of LA County .

The boy, Nicholas Johnston, was allegedly picked up Wednesday in Long Beach by her mother during a visit midweek , but she could not bring it to school the next day , the statement said.
Johnston and her son were missing for several days , prosecutors said , triggering an Amber Alert issued by the California Highway Patrol on Monday afternoon.
Shortly after the alert , which came to cell phones and media, the mother and the child is in Oceanside, in San Diego.
Police were working with a U.S. fugitive task force Marshals Service , which took the mother into custody, according to a tweet from the Police Department Long Beach.
Sri Ann Johnston was expected to be arraigned later in the week. She faces up to 13 years and eight months in prison if convicted.
The boy was set to join his father later on Monday , police said .
